Point of sale (POS) software and its applications

Point of sale is software where that is generally used for checkouts, means checkout exactly refer to checking the transactions and the status. If the transaction occurred then the system allows the printer to print the voucher. History Earlier it was called as electronic cash registers (ECR) which was very limited in function and communications capability. It was release by IBM in the year 1973. This system was the first commercial use of client-server technology, peer to peer communications, Local Area Network (LAN) simultaneous backup, and remote initialization. This software included real time labor and food cost reports. Modern software (Post-1990s) Modern POS software released after 1990s is entirely different basically the software developed on windows and UNIX platform. The availability of local processing power, local data storage, networking, and graphical user interface made it possible to develop flexible and highly functional POS systems. POS systems include: high and consistent operating speed, reliability, ease of use, remote supportability, low cost, and rich functionality. Web based POS (Post-2000s) Web based POS software can be run on any computer with an Internet connection and supported browser, without additional software installations, web based POS solutions have become more reliable than previous POS and it is accessible any were easy to maintain the database and easy to share or edit the records. Applications of POS Used in hospital industries which keep the track of sales of medicines, labor and payroll, it help to reduce the traditional book keeping maintaining accounting book for maintaining transitions. Used in restaurant business Used in hotel business. These are some of the industries where the POS software used for maintaining records.
